BOARD OF DIRECTORS

LANE GOSNAY
FOUNDER /Ex-Officio BOARD MEMBER
A graduate of Texas A & M Maritime Academy and a former Texas State Game Warden, Lane Gosnay may have what some would consider odd credentials for the founder of a music venue. In a world where many in the music business consider the term “music business” an oxymoron, Lane takes the business of music seriously. Her passion in presenting musicians in a listening room environment hails from the palpable connection between the artist and the attentive audience.

chris hallman
BOARD MEMBER
Christine Hallman (Chris)is retired and lives in Round Top. In her “past life” she was a marketing executive/consultant primarily for land developers, home builders, architects and interior designers. Her main focus has always been on new business development and “making things happen”. She feels all of this knowledge can be applied to the Bugle Boy. She says “I am committed to Bugle Boy and hope I can help to maintain its history yet bring it forward towards growth in today’s environment.”

Richard Skanse
ARTIST PROCUREMENT
Richard, who joined the Bugle Boy staff as our talent booker in September 2021, has spent the better part of the last 25-plus years working in a different corner of the music industry—as a music writer. While attending Trinity University in San Antonio (majoring in English and Communications, with a minor in Medieval Studies), he interned at the San Antonio Current and eventually worked his way into being the alternative weekly’s local music columnist. After graduation and a six-month stint bartending in North Wales, he moved to New York City in the mid-90s and landed his first dream job at Rolling Stone, as a features editor for the magazine’s nascent online site. In 2001, the El Paso native moved back to his home state to accept the position as editor of Texas Music Magazine, and nine years later began a decade-long run editing Lone Star Music Magazine and LoneStarMusicMagazine.com. His favorite part about his career as a music journalist has long been having a platform to write about and champion his favorite artists, especially independent singer-songwriters — a passion he now brings to his responsibility booking shows at the Bugle Boy. Richard lives in San Marcos with an embarrassing amount of rescue cats, but comes to every show in La Grange that he can.

Ryan lee
SOUND ENGINEER
Originally from Cedar Hill (south of Dallas), Ryan Lee graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with a degree in Sound Recording Technology. But his confident and knowledgeable rapport with artists at the listening room comes from more than just his college training: Ryan is a seasoned performer in his own right who has toured across the United States and Europe, both with his own band, Crypt Trip, for the better part of a decade and as the lead guitarist on Texas psych-rock legend Roky Erickson’s final tour in late 2018 and early 2019. He recently built and opened his own recording studio, Sweetheart Studios, in Elgin, where he lives with his wife and young daughter.

colin guerra
Colin Guerra, a Smithville, TX resident, was first introduced to the Bugle Boy when he performed here with jazz singer Hailey Tuck in 2022. He has been a musician from early on, playing in school orchestras, forming garage bands in his teenage years, and continues to compose, record, and perform original music. In addition to musical pursuits, Colin is a photographer, video producer, and communications professional, currently serving as the Public Information Manager for the City of Bastrop. He serves as the current President of the Bastrop Opera House Board of Directors and is passionate about arts and culture. He stays busy with his wife, son, and three daughters.

JOANNA CASTILLO
Joanna (aka @jojolemon – on Instagram) has been an invaluable member of the Bugle Boy team For well over a decade, volunteering at almost every show where she helps monitor and trouble shoot the live webcast, helps patrons find seats and sells merchandise for most of our artists, just as she does at many venues across Austin, virtually every night of the week.
She also helps keep the Bugle Boy running behind the scenes by offering tech support and calendar design, drawing on her years of experience working in IT for the University of Texas at Austin (her alma mater) and as an independent consultant. It’s no wonder so many artists in and around Austin call Joanna the “Patron Saint of Live Music” and why they organized a music festival, “Joanna Fest” in February 2022 (complete with her own T-shirt), with all proceeds benefitting the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAMM). We are lucky to have her on our team!

ARTIST ADVISORY COMMITTEE
TERRI HENDRIX
Terri Hendrix is a prolific Texas singer/songwriter and travels the country performing her work with touring partner Lloyd Maines. She formed her own nonprofit organization OYOU (Own Your Own Universe) and teaches other musicians how to market themselves and maintain a “DIY music career” through her book “Cry Till You Laugh – The Part That Aint Art”. Terri hosts the Bugle Boy’s Soldier Songs & Voices workshop and has been instrumental in helping the Veterans write new songs.

LLOYD MAINES
Lloyd Maines is a multi-instrumental side-man inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame and has appeared more than any other performer on the Austin City Limits show. He is a Grammy Award winning producer for his daughter Natalie’s band (the Dixie Chicks) and has produced albums for and toured with numerous well-known Texas artists over the years. Lloyd is known as a top notch steel guitar player and has appeared on the Bugle Boy stage with Terri Hendrix for years and also shares his vast knowledge with the Veterans that attend our Soldier Songs & Voices workshop.

CARRIE RODRIGUEZ
Carrie Rodriguez is an Austin singer/songwriter classically trained in violin at Oberlin College, then fiddle at Berklee College of Music. She sings in both English and Spanish and has toured, recorded and co-written songs with legendary artists such as Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Rickie Lee Jones, Mary Gauthier, Los Lobos, among others. She has made numerous television and radio appearances, including Austin City Limits, The Tonight Show and A Prairie Home Companion. She has also served as a judge at the Bugle Boy sponsored Songwriter Serenade music competition held annually in Moravia.

ADAM CARROLL
Adam Carroll is a true songwriter’s songwriter, a Texas tunesmith who has inspired both younger and older artists for nearly two decades. In 2016, Carroll was honored by his peers with a tribute album “Highway Prayer – A Tribute to Adam Carroll” with artists such as James McMurtry, Walt Wilkins, Slaid Cleaves, Hayes Carll and many more covering songs penned by Adam. Adam is a regular host of the Bugle Boy’s Soldier Songs & Voices workshop, a free songwriting/guitar workshop exclusively for Veterans.
